This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore eight topics, from different verses in the books of Ephesians, 2Timothy, Hebrews, James, 3John, Revelation. They are: Dealing with Satan’s fiery darts; Grace, mercy and peace; The living God; Receiving and using abilities by faith; The Lord is my helper; Faith without the works; Three dimensions of prosperity; and How long did it take God to create the earth?
Excerpts:
Dealing with Satan’s fiery darts
“We are victors because we are light (Matthew 5:14) and ready to counter the darkness of the enemy, standing assured of the divine defence.”
Grace, mercy and peace
“The peace, the sense of wholeness and completeness of divinity represents the kingdom of God coming to bare on the earth, because peace is an heavenly reality.”
The living God
“In what has been called the Lord’s Prayer, every phrase shows that God is active (Matthew 6:9-13). The first phrase says, our father in heaven. When it comes to taking care of his children (I hope you are one), no earthly father can hold a candle to the living God. You cannot be more active in the life of your natural children than God is active in the lives of those, who are his children to bring us to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).”
Receiving and using abilities by faith
“Lastly, we do not only receive ability by faith but we also operate the ability of the Holy Spirit by faith. Writing to the Roman Christians (Romans 12:1-8), Paul admonished that they should use their gifts: teaching, prophecy, giving, and mercy, in proportion to their faith. Those gifts are abilities they have received from God, to perform their function in the body of Christ. Nevertheless God is not going to operate it for them; they have to operate it with full cognizance of the faith level. Therefore, Paul told Timothy that fear would not allow the operation of his gift (2Timothy 1:6-7).”
The Lord is my helper
“The bible says that the whole creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:18-22). Sonship means full maturity, full expression of the person of Christ. Christ came as a helper sent to his generation. Peter said that Jesus was baptised with the Holy Spirit and power (Acts 10:38), and went about doing “good” and healing those who are oppressed by the devil.  And the point of Jesus being in you is for you to manifest who He is as helper on this earth, so that people will experience the Lord as helper through you.”
Faith without the works
“Therefore, if you are not meeting the physical needs of the people of God, when you can; not living a life of obedience; and not serving his purpose, your faith is without works and is therefore dead (James 2:26).”
Three dimensions of prosperity
“As the grace of God flows to us as we stand in faith, we would experience health and wealth, the peace and prosperity of God that passes all understanding (John 14:7).”
How long did it take God to create the earth?
“One major reason why we need to know that earth and heaven were done before the earth was remake (possibly after a catastrophe à la Satan’s rebellion) was because the making of angels was not mentioned in the six days of the making of the earth. Since those beings predate man, we can conclude that there was definitely a little gap between the first two verses of the bible, between the beginning and the earth becoming void.”
