This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore nine topics, from different verses in the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. They are: The fire of God’s glory; Arise, O Lord; God’s ability; The Lord made the difference; “I am the Lord your God”; Satan’s pre-emptive strike; No divination; Change of fortune; and Underneath are the everlasting arms.
Excerpts:
The fire of God’s glory
“He defined eternal life as knowing the true God and Jesus whom he has sent (John 17:3). And knowing Jesus is firmly linked to knowing the Holy Spirit because you cannot respect Jesus and disregard his Spirit, the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9).”
Arise, O Lord
“When God by the Holy Spirit arises in you, giving us renewed vision and renewed identity; we should arise and occupy our place of spiritual service till he comes back or till he gives us a renewed vision and renewed identity and moves us to another level of service.”
God’s ability
“He recognised that such would not be by power nor might but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6), that it is the ability of God, which will get things done for the children of Israel.”
The Lord made the difference
“In contrast to the attitude of David when confronting Goliath, which was based on his own words which is to “set the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand I shall not be moved “, Israel allowed itself to be moved by the pictures, painted by the errant ten spies. Goliath attempted that on David, painting the picture of feeding his (David’s) flesh to the birds, attacking him with grievous curses, but David dusted all that off, because he was strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10) and that made the difference.”
“I am the Lord your God”
“Paul said that to be saved you have to confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9-11); in a definite way, you sign into having Jesus as Lord; (you have signed to give him your all because he gave you his all); though he died for the sin of the whole world, individuals have to choose to have him as Lord before they can benefit from his saving grace, and thus have him and your God and Lord.”
Satan’s pre-emptive strike
“Though a curse is a satanic pre-emptive strike, since Jesus has become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13-14), all curses that should have landed on us (past, present and future) were borne by him in an eternal sense because he is an eternal God. He swallowed it all up. There was no limit to his atoning sacrifice.
“But the one we have to deal with is God. You don’t want him displeased with you, or opposed to you in any way. As Jesus said, don’t fear mere mortals who can only destroy the body, fear the one who can destroy both body and soul in hell (Matthew 10:28).
No divination
“You are impregnable untouchable, and it will be to you as you believe. If you believed you are above only and not beneath then that is the way it is going to be, if you say that you are the deliverer and not the oppressed, then that is the way it is. The words of your mouth are very important. They show over time how convinced you are about what you think is the truth. Do you believe that no divination against you can stand?”
