This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore eleven topics, from different verses in the books of Proverbs and Isaiah. They are: The name of the Lord; Boasting in the Lord: 3 ways Jesus helps us; Who is Jesus?; Resting in the works of Christ; Saviour; A saviour and champion; Spirit of Justice; Restoration; An offering for sin; Covenant of peace; and Light, healing, righteousness, glory.
Excerpts:
The name of the Lord
“He is the vine, we are the branches. We derive our sustenance, our identity and our productivity from him, all within the context of our unity with him. We experience his flow in us, the flow of his thought (1Corinthians 2:16), the flow of his life, the flow of his divine energy.”
Boasting in the Lord: 3 ways Jesus helps us
“Jesus also healed lepers. A leper in the time of the bible was a social outcast, in the very bottom of the social order. But Jesus reaches out to them, cleaning them of the infirmity. Leprosy is the symbolic of sin, and Jesus’s blood was shed for the purpose of cleaning us. We were spiritual outcast, casted out of the Garden of Eden, and Jesus bent down from heaven to touch and clean us.”
Who is Jesus?
“With the manifestation of Jesus through our words and action, the bible says we destroy the works of the devil (1John 3:8), we get to know God as never possible before by the Holy Spirit whose mission is to reveal Jesus, cause him to be manifested in his ability his passion, his commission, his life, all lived out through us by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Resting in the works of Christ
“Following the word of God is also the path of rest. When Paul was persecuting the church, Jesus told him in an encounter with him on the way to Damascus that “you are kicking against the pricks (Acts 9:1-7).” Any attempt to move against the will of God is to injure ourselves, the move against the flow of divine energy is to deplete your own energy, lose your own ability; become entrapped by the antics of the devil who is the prime enemy of all things God including the will of God.”
Saviour
“And eating the flesh and drinking blood is something shameful. That means if we cannot reject the shame associated with coming to Jesus (Hebrews 13:13), which may have to do with being mocked, and persecuted, for being involved in something that is against popular culture, or even social norms, we can count ourselves out of his life. Jesus said if we are ashamed of him in the world, he would be ashamed of us before his heavenly father (Mark 8:38).”
A saviour and champion
“Now to another interesting part to the David and Goliath story. The reward for David defeating Goliath was that he will marry the king’s daughter. What is the reward for Jesus overcoming the devil for us? It is that he gets go have a bride, the church.”
Spirit of Justice
“So the coming of Jesus is a manifestation of the Spirit of Justice. John wrote: for this reason the son of man was manifested to destroy (as a form of judgment) the works of the devil (1John 3:8). The judgement also revealed his righteousness.”
