This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the book of Joshua. They are: Satan’s wild-goose chase; Elevation; There is nothing to it; Total conquest; and The mighty One, God, the LORD.
Excerpts:
Satan’s wild-goose chase
“Realise this: all attempts of the devil to move you away from the cover of the love of God is futile (Romans 8:35-39), we see that nothing can move us from the cover of God’s love. It is also confirmed that we are in God’s hand and no one can pluck us away from his hand (John 10:28-29). We are free from satanic influences. Have that as part of your view of yourself. There is nothing uncertain about your situation; you have been insured through the death of Jesus. Just like a worker bee has only one chance to sting a thick-skinned victim and afterwards dies, unable to attack another victim, Jesus took on himself the sting of death (which is the way Satan manifests his power [Hebrews 2:14-15]) on our behalf. And there is nothing the devil can do except make attempts and all his efforts are going to amount to a wild-goose chase.”
Elevation
“We are made new creatures (2Corinthians 5:17), and are elevated to the heavenly places, the place of light as God moves us from the darkness that humanity was plunged into as we rejected the light of his presence (Colossians 1:13). In Jesus all was not lost, all was restored and more.”
There is nothing to it
“Jesus rose up with an immortal body, a body that can no longer decay as a prediction of what will happen to the believers too (2Timothy 1:10, 1Corinthians 15:12-57, Romans 8:11). The resurrection of Jesus shows that it was nothing for God to get each and every one of us new bodies, out of this old one; the new ones with no expiry date.”
Total conquest
“The Joshua generation mostly kept in step with God. The connected with all powerful God, they were able to overcome the opposition, no matter how big and how subtle.”
The mighty One, God, the LORD
“In disobedience Adam and Eve rejected the truth of God and embraced a lie, they also rejected the grace of God and moved into self-effort and thereafter fell flat on their faces. This was because originally, they were made through the infusion of the spirit of truth. However, in Jesus we have the remedy, the restoration of the destiny of humanity; we have a reconnection back to God, back to His grace and truth.”
