This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the book of 2Chronicles. They are: The price of wisdom; Setting your heart to seek the Lord; There is reward for your work; Seeking God against all odds.
Excerpts:
The price of wisdom
“Summarily, the price of wisdom is REJECTION. The devil and other people want to pressure you to their wisdom and away from the wisdom of God, you have to reject them, and be ready to suffer rejection from people. And the other price of wisdom is DEDICATION.  You have to give up things for the sake of gaining wisdom.”
Setting your heart to seek the Lord
“If we associated with the faithful, with the seekers of God, that emphasise those qualities in us as Christian, but if we choose to associate with the faithless it de-emphasises the new life in us. No wonder we are instructed to not neglect the assembling of one another together (Hebrews 10:24-25), so that we can be stirred to good works, to positive expressions in our lives, that we might be helped to set our heart to seeking God.”
There is reward for your work
“In another place Jesus said that whoever gives a prophet a cup of water because he is a prophet will reap a prophet’s reward (Matthew 10:40-41). For helping the prophet with their physical needs, or some other messengers of God, you join yourself to him for whatever reward that is his for his service, since you have assisted him in that service.”
Seeking God against all odds
“When you stop seeking you have decided to be on your own, and act against Solomon’s advice that we should trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding, adding that we should acknowledge God, seeking him in all our ways for his direction (Proverbs 3:5-6). To not seek God means you believe that you can direct your own path.”
