This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore eight topics, from different verses in the books of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. They are: Heart to know God; “Those who were before me”; You have to serve something/someone; False security; God’s battle axe; From rebellion to obedience; Offering; and A kingdom on the move.
Excerpts:
Heart to know God
“When the Holy Spirit nudges at your heart in conviction, don’t look for excuses, repent of that sin. That is a sign of a responsive heart to God, a heart that can know God.”
“Those who were before me”
“Highlighting God’s respect for learning from those before us, the bible says that we should look for the ancient landmark. The purpose, power and passion of those who have gone before us are what we can learn. It would become strength and encouragement, impacting you with a renewed vision for God, as you stand on the shoulder of giants.”
You have to serve something/someone
“From the temptation of Jesus by Satan, the former sealed the issue of service forever. Being pulled to submit to him by Satan, he retorted saying, God is the only one we should serve (Luke 4:5-8). Not realising that would get even Jesus under satanic bondage; talk less of you, since the fact that you have to serve something or someone is set in stone.”
False security
“While those who do not believe judgment is coming (and those who for whatever reason chose to ignore the warning) may not repent because of a sense of false security, those who believe will reign with Jesus. And the former will be condemned.”
God’s battle axe
“Through the focus verse, God is saying you are important to him; you are part of his agenda on earth. He has chosen you to be his battle axe.”
From rebellion to obedience
“Therefore, the real rebellion now is to reject the salvation in Jesus. The writer of the book of Hebrews asked: how shall be free of punishment if we neglect so great a salvation (Hebrews 2:3)?”
Offering
“There was the offering of Jesus, once and for all made and there are the offerings that we make now, to act out the divinity in us.”
A kingdom on the move
“The kingdom is not built on miracles but it flows in miracles. The energy of the kingdom is channeled into miracles but the foundation is the word of God. It is the same word that created the heaven and the earth that is creating the kingdom that is forever.”
