Il tema dell’Universal Design è di recente acquisizione e indica i requisiti prestazionali che gli oggetti devono possedere per essere fruiti da tutti gli utilizzatori di un ambiente. Il settore disciplinare del Disegno e Rilievo, in questo contesto, assume un ruolo centrale se si pensa a tutte le soluzioni che devono essere predisposte dal punto di vista della grafica e comunicazione visiva ed extra visiva per i disabili sensoriali. Lo sviluppo di simboli e caratteri tipografici per il disegno a rilievo delle mappe tattili rivolte ai disabili visivi, o gli elementi della grafica, in cui ci sia una enfatizzazione dell’informazione/comunicazione, per i disabili uditivi e cognitivi, sono alcuni degli ambiti della ricerca attualmente condotta in questa direzione. | The term ‘Universal Design’ is a recent neologism in Italy indicating the performance which objects have to have in order to be used by all potential users in an environment. In this case, the disciplinary sector of Drawing and Survey plays a key role in finding the many solutions required to develop graphics as well as visual and non-visual communication for the disabled. Several of the study areas currently moving in this direction are: the design of symbols and typographic characters for the relief drawing of tactile maps for the visually disabled or the graphic elements in which information/communication has to be emphasised for the deaf or persons with cognitive difficulties.
