Charles Montgomery Skinner was an American writer, editor, dramatic and art critic, mostly known as a collector and rewriter of North American folklore. “The Old Mill At Somerville” is a short story, entered in the collection “Myth and legend of our own land”. On a gravel ridge in Somerville, Massachusetts, there is an old mill, known as the powder-house. It is named so because at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War it was used temporarily as a store. But long before that it was an ordinary wind-mill, with whom one sentimental legend about two lovers is aligned. This tale will tell you about it. Start your familiar with American history and culture through the Skinner’ collection “Myth and legends of our own land”!
