This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of the Ministry of the Word are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of Lamentation, Ezekiel, and Daniel. They are: False and foolish visions; Speaking with God’s words; How to make a great army from dry bones; and Giving attention to God’s truth.
Excerpts:
False and foolish visions
“If they fall into the hands of false teachers who will fill them with wrong thoughts, then they are in real big trouble. The book of Psalms says: The Lord gave the word, great is the multitudes of those who proclaim it (Psalm 68:11). We do not proclaim our own words, it is the word of God, with Peter writing that those who speak should speak as the oracle of God (1Peter 4:10-11) then they will give people true and effective visions.”
Speaking with God’s words
“What was the instruction he disobeyed? God had told him that on getting there, he should not allow himself to be entertained, but he should travel immediately back. But he was deceived by another prophet, an older man (he respected the word of those who have gone before him) who gave him a contrary word, which led him into disobedience to the original word he had from God. That cut short his prophetic ministry as he was killed by a lion on his way back. God had told him not to be entertained, but to come straight back. But the older prophet said he should be entertained in his house, lying to him that he also has a word from the Lord.

“He spoke the word of God to others, but he failed to obey the word that was for him, and that was his downfall.”
How to make a great army from dry bones
“That is why Moses said to God: if your presence will not go with us take us not from here (Exodus 33:15). He does not want to risk moving on without the presence of God which the Holy Spirit typifies. It will be too risky a journey. In the time of Moses in the wilderness, those who presumed to want to take on the enemy without the absolute assurance that God was with them came back bloodied, and some of them died (Numbers 14:42-45).”
Giving attention to God’s truth
“Therefore, apart from empowering and transforming us, the Word also cleanses us. It is a means for God cleaning us up, making us conform to his will, making us produce the fruit of the word (Mark 4:1-20). Have a problem with any wrong habit or anger or sin? Get cleansed by the word. It is the spiritual cleansing solution, as we increasingly have God’s thoughts merged with ours, and we experience unity with him in His purpose.”
