This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of the Ministry of the Word are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of Joshua, Judges, 1Samuel and 2Samuel. They are: God’s fulfilment of his word; Steadfast love; Know the Lord; What has God said to you?; and Despising the Word.
Excerpts:
God’s fulfilment of his word
“It will be fulfilled what God has said about Jesus that he will set up a kingdom on earth, an endless kingdom (Luke 1:33). There will be the New Jerusalem, and there will be new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1). In the Revelation that God showed John about Jesus, Jesus said: behold I make all things new. That will be fulfilled (Revelation 21:5).”
Steadfast love
“The church is the divine technology for helping you stay passionate about God. It provides the opportunity for us to horn your skills and talents, and live in obedience to God in their deployment in the service of the body of Christ. And that is the way God defines love; as service (Hebrews 6:10). Remember the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:27-37).”
Know the Lord
“The word makes it possible for the capacity of God to be replicated in man, in whose image man was made (Genesis 1:26-28), since the Word was God. When the word is in you, God is in you, controlling you and strengthening you.”
What has God said to you?
“David after the death of Saul asked God where he should go (2Samuel 2:1). God told him to go to Hebron. There Judah came to anoint him as King.
“What has God said to you? Believe, obey, and walk in it.”
Despising the Word
“The word makes the heavenly life possible. And heaven is not a static place, or the figment of some people’s imagination. It is where the reality of God is the only reality there is. God is there and speaks to us from there though the medium of the Holy Spirit, and that makes all the difference for us in this life, when we don’t despise it, but embrace it.”
