This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the book of Hosea. They are: Seek the Lord; The influence of leaders; Turning upwards; and Sowing and reaping.
Excerpts:
Seek the Lord
“Pilate asked: what is truth? But he was not a seeker of truth. The bible says that it is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the honour of kings to search it out (Proverbs 25:2). Jesus is truth and to understand him starts with a seeking heart.”
The influence of leaders
“His leadership was from a base of “conviction,” he also had “anointing”, and “direction.” Spiritual leaders of influence must have those three in the right quantities. They cannot influence others beyond them.”
Turning upwards
“The success key that God gave Joshua has to do with meditating on the word of God day and night (Joshua 1:1-9). The word of God is faith building capsules that would fill us with the vision of what is possible with God. God does not want Joshua to become scared because of the reputation of the people he is leading the people of Israel against, to take over the promise Land; He wants him focused on His ability and a lifestyle of obedience. God had promise that he would be with the children of Israel in the battle, and he would give them victory, and he wants Joshua to be focused on that, and to avoid things that would cut him off from the backing of God.”
Sowing and reaping
“As I quoted before, Jesus said when we give, it shall be given to us, therefore don’t allow the bad experience you’ve had in the area of giving to cause you to shut your bowel of mercies, to recalibrate your brain and cause you to reject the path of giving. Or maybe it is the experience of lack that you have had that has made you enter the cage of stinginess.”
