We are going to see Nan and Grandpa for Christmas! We are flying outside, I can hardly believe it! I have not seen my grandparents for three years. These are my paternal grandparents they live in Lethbridge Alberta, Canada; we live in Fort Good Hope N.W.T., also in Canada. It is 1,500 miles to travel to Lethbridge for the holidays.

Our trip will take us from Good Hope by Otter (plane) to Yellowknife, N.W.T; we will overnight in Yellowknife and then fly by DC6 to Edmonton. In Edmonton we rent a car and drive to Lethbridge. Travel this far, at this time of year takes a very long time. Today it is quicker and easier to get to Mexico.

We have fancy parkas for the trip. My mom has asked Lucy Jackson to do the embroidery on our new parkas. Lucy also helped my mom sew the stroud pieces together. Stroud resembles felt, it is very expensive and hard to get. These are beautiful “parkies” we also have new shoes. Mukluks are called shoes; we are pretty groovy in the far north. My shoes aren’t new, but they are a fancy beaded pair that my mom got from Fort Chip, I have been bugging her for years for them. They finally fit me.
