This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore twelve topics, from different verses in the book of Luke. They are: The Son of God; Calling sinners to repentance; A great prophet; The One; Jesus: Who is he?; Touching Jesus; Curing those who had need of healing; Denying Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life; ‘I cast out devils and perform cures’; A body not found; Redeeming Israel the other way round.
Excerpts:
The Son of God
“As the one with the registered name of being the Son of God, Jesus gave us the right (the franchise) to be so-called, imbuing us with his kind/level of relationship with God. If he were not the Son of God then, we would not be made sons and daughters of God, born of the seed of the eternal word (1Peter 1:23)- Jesus the Christ. And the plan of God would have not have been achieved, the plan to have a great population of in his image (Jesus is His image): being his sons and daughters in the shape of Jesus, and shaped by Jesus.
“It was all in the divine calculation.”
Calling sinners to repentance
“In summary, Jesus comes to call sinners to repentance; he draws sinners, in a non-judgemental way, knowing fully well how helpless man is without him as the solution to the issue of sin.”
A great prophet
“When we look to the pages of the bible, we realize that there is a Jesus who is the coming King, the one who will rule for 1000 years on this earth (Revelation 20:1-6). There is more to Jesus than meets the eye; than we can grasp with our finite mind.”
The One
“Like the sun rises daily, this sun of righteousness, Jesus Christ, whose mercies are new every morning, rises on you with renewed health, both spiritually and physically. Do you believe this or you have resigned to live all your life depending on drugs and subject to demonic harassments? The choice is yours but don’t say Jesus is lacking in the healing and health department. Mary Magdalene would not agree with you.”
Jesus: Who is he?
“All in all, Jesus is that manner of person to show you what manner of person you should be.”
Touching Jesus
“Everything we touch in Jesus is for transformation. With healing grace we are transformed physically, with truth we are transformed in our mind, our belief system, and by life we are transformed spiritually. The three have areas of overlap. Truth can deliver grace and life (the ministration of the word of truth delivers both life [John 6:63] and grace [1Peter 4:10-11]), life can deliver grace and truth (it is the life of God in us that flows out to others in grace and truth); grace can lead to life and truth (e.g. when healing happens people can come to know the truth of God and enter into the life of God [Acts 8:4-13, Acts 3:1-4:4]).”
Curing those who had need of healing
“The bible says that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we can ask or think according to the power at work in us (Ephesians 3:20). That means God is not limited.”
Denying Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life
“Therefore, those who deny the place of signs and wonders in the church at this time have denied Jesus as the life. They embrace him as the truth, “teaching and knowing the right things,” and the way as they strive to “pattern their lives after the truth,” but they deny the reality of the power of God as an ongoing reality to heal the sick raise the dead, cast out devils, operate in the gifts of the spirit, speak in tongues.”
