This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Holiness are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the books of Isaiah and Jeremiah. They are: Purifying fire; Consecrated ones; Highway of holiness; Don’t carry any load on the Sabbath day; The trial of a prophet; Two sides of forgiveness
Excerpts:
Purifying fire
“These are words that are unknown, unlearned language that may sound like babbling. It is the groaning (Romans 8:26) that cannot be uttered (naturally communicated), deep yearning coming from deep within. It is like fire coming from our spirit spilling to the soul and cleaning it up; cleaning up the thinking, the emotions and the will, setting us up for a life of holiness. Speaking in tongues activates the presence of the Holy Spirit to produce his holiness in our lives.”
Consecrated ones
“The bible says those who know their God will be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). So the consecrated ones will pay attention to knowing God. They concentrate on everything that will enhance their knowledge of Him.”
Highway of holiness
“When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness it was an opportunity for victory or for defeat. When Jesus did not yield to the temptation of the devil, he gave everyone in him the ability to do the same, but when Adam yielded to the devil, he puts everyone who came through him to the world under the devil by no fault of theirs (Romans 5:12-21). And those who believe in Jesus come into victory over the devil, in the same vein, not by any effort of theirs.”
Don’t carry any load on the Sabbath day
“The weight of human expectation is not only based on what they want you to do but also when they want you to do it. At one time, the brothers of Jesus told him that he should now go and show himself to the people, but he told then that his time has not yet come (John 7:2-10). You cannot run your life on another man’s preferred timetable for you. You can’t be a man-pleaser and be a God-pleaser at the same time (Galatians 1:10), which is what, all of us, Sabbath day people, are to do.”
The trial of a prophet
“Peter has a word of assurance. He said after you have suffered a while, God would perfect, establish and settle you (1Peter 5:8-10). The final answer is not with your persecutor but with God who has promised you a crown (James 1:12).”
Two sides of forgiveness
“God no longer has to be appeased by us. We come as his children, as people who have the right to be there, to be at the throne of grace, as those who are righteous, pleasing to him. We do not come hoping to be accepted, we come because we are already accepted, because we are part of the body of Christ.”
