Cal Morgan’s biography of Pastor F.G. Bursey gives us a glimpse into an era of early Pentecostalism in Newfoundland that still lives in many hearts today. Readers of past generations will identify with the spiritual passion of a great man of God and the present generations will be challenged by this well-written story of his life. —Dr. Rev. Carl Verge, Former President, Eastern Pentecostal Bible College (MCS)

Few figures in the history of the PAONL loom larger than F.G. Bursey. He was a man of unwavering commitment to the cause of evangelism and church planting. For the first time, his life and ministry are now being told for future generations. Cal Morgan has made a lasting contribution to the history of Pentecostalism in his home province and is to be commended for his careful and patient research into the life of a man whose legacy lives on. —Rev. Ewen Butler, Pastor, Church on the Hill, Cobourg, Ont.

The Skipper capsules the spirit of a man, through dedication and prayer, contending for the power of God to carry out His purpose for his life and ministry. Author Calvin Morgan covered well the life, ministry and legacy of such a beloved brother and colleague, Frank G. Bursey. —Rev. Roy D. King, Former General Superintendent, PAONL.

Cal Morgan was born and raised in Northern Arm, Newfoundland. He moved to Ontario in 1954 where he attended EPBC, graduating in 1958. After serving in the Christian ministry for seven years, he worked for General Motors for the next thirty-one years. Twelve of those years were spent as an editor in Employee
Communications. While doing so, he earned a B.A. in Sociology from Trent University, graduating in 1984. He also has a certificate in Human Relations from Sir Sanford Fleming College. Married in Ontario, he has four children, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. After retirement, Cal served the municipality of Port Hope as a Councillor for seven years.
