The Shaman's Song

Bright Moon’s father died the night their caravan was attacked. Illness and the trauma of the attack took her mother. Unable to fend for themselves, her tribe was absorbed by another caravan. They soon discover that the new caravan leader, Long Tusk, is a tyrant and also the one responsible for the attack that left them in this condition. Critical of his methods, Bright Moon continually defies him while he, in his quest for absolute power, attempts to break her. Unable to do so and wary of her rising esteem, Long Tusk must find a way to eliminate her as a problem. He has her kidnapped. Bound, hobbled, blindfolded, and spirited away in the middle of the night. Can she, a girl less than fifteen, survive kidnapping and life at the hand of others? Bright Moon has to find a way to escape. For a Shaman who is thought to possess magical powers, this was not a problem.
