“The Chest” is a Scottish fairy tale, entered in the “Popular Tales of the West Highlands” collection. The narration is about a King, who has a son and wishes to see him with a wife. The prince says that he has better go for a wife, and the King gives him half a hundred pounds to get her. The youth goes forward in to a hostelry to stay in it. He goes down to a chamber with a good fire in front of him; and when he has gotten meat, the man of the house goes down to talk to him. The prince narrates him the purpose of journey, and the master of the house tells him, that he needs not go further, because what he is looking for is in that house…
