Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882) was a famous American essayist, lecturer, and poet who was considered as a leader of Transcendentalist movement in the middle of 19-th century. Gained the worldwide appreciation due to be the “champion” of individualism and a prescient critic of modern society. His created dozens of published works, essays and lectures devoted to these issues.
Transcendentalism was a religious and philosophical movement that developed during the late of 1820 and 1830 in the Eastern region of the United States as a protest against the general state of spirituality. This work by Ralph Emerson represents his lecture read at the Masonic Temple in Boston that in particular gives the description of those new views called Transcendentalism and why on his opinion this view was becoming popular.
