It is a beautiful story about the young artist Owen Warland  who dedicates his life to the search of beauty.  Even as a child, Owen Warland enjoys carving intricate figures of birds and flowers and shows mechanical ability. Hence, he is apprenticed to Peter Hovenden, a master watchmaker, with whom, his relatives hope, he will be able to make practical use of his delicate talents. However, Peter is not impressed with Owen's characters. Nevertheless, He recognizes his considerable talents but senses that Owen does not care to apply them in a conventional way. Can Owen Warland create Beauty at long last or not?  “The Artist of the Beautiful” shows a good example of the men's faith in the artistic principle and also the penetrating understanding of the struggles that the artist must endure.
