Dietro la rigorosa geometria di Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza, indagando la fase aurorale della creazione – quando nella mente dell'architetto circolano immagini, suggestioni, idee che influenzeranno e condizioneranno la forma dell'opera stessa – è emersa una nuova e inedita ipotesi, ossia che l'edificio altro non sia che una profonda allegoria della Sapienza, distinta nei due grandi elementi che hanno condizionato e continuano a condizionare il nostro modo di vivere: Fede e Ragione. Attraverso questi due percorsi si sale la scala che giunge fino alla conoscenza di Dio, ma mentre nel primo, quello teologico, ci si unisce a Lui, in quello filosofico si giunge soltanto a vederlo e a conoscerlo ma senza tuttavia a Lui congiungersi. | When we studied the creative dawn of Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza – when the architect's mind is filled with the images, thoughts and ideas influencing and affecting the shape of the building – we realised that its strict geometry might harbour a new and innovative theory: the building is nothing but the intense allegory of Wisdom divided, however, into two important elements that have affected, and continue to affect the way we live: Faith and Reason. Following these two paths we walked up steps leading to the knowledge of God; while the first, theology, unites man with God, the second, philosophy, only allows man to see and know him, but not to unite with him.
