Q: What genre would you say this story is? The cover looks like urban fantasy but the description talks about heists and a woman on the run. Is it a thriller or an action-adventure story, because while I like some action, I love me some magic.
A: I would call this a mish mash of my favorite things: magical realism, urban fantasy, and thriller adventure, all for a woman's reading tastes. Isabella Hush is an urban fantasy series about mortals and immortals, and in it, a mortal woman mixes it up with magical beings, in a very real human city. Even if she does take a trip or two into another world or dimension, she is happily tied to the human realm.

Q: Can I expect Isabella Hush to be the typical scrappy, kickass heroine who discovers she has secret powers and is the savior of the world? In other words, is she a strong female lead? Urban fantasy often has snarky women who have amazing powers and are great warrior women, but I don't always want my heroines to be so badass they lose sight of their own humanity. I like a strong female lead and romantic adventure where the character has some vulnerability and grows over the life of a series.
A: I totally understand. I personally love to read characters that have depth and become so three-dimensional they live beyond the page. I do hope Isabella has enough of those things to satisfy readers who love snarky heroines who kick butt and take no names and readers who love a flawed character, one who grows into her skin. I wrote her as a mortal woman for that reason. She's imperfect as a heroine. She is a flawed character with a secret past, but above all, she's a survivor. Like many survivors, she has some PTSD about her past. She's both confident at times, and at times a hot mess. She may start out feeling powerless but she knows how to find her inner strength. She's just forgotten. You'll want to follow her journey to see how she evolves.

Q: Is there romance? I like romance in my urban fantasy but I don't want it to be too over the top.
A: The romance isn't the main part of the story. Sure, it's an urban fantasy series with a slow burn romance but the romance isn't the biggest part of the story. I like my characters' love lives to evolve and grow. These characters don't hop into bed in the first few pages...or even chapters...or maybe even in the entire book. Personally, I think that's where the tension is, and I love seeing it unfold over several books.
