Flowers for the Grave
Clint is visiting friends in Mali. There is a young woman who has crossed the fence onto the friend’s property. Clint asks what she’s doing. She says she’s gathering flowers for the grave.
Ernesto says she had permission. She gathered flowers a lot and they just grew wild there.
Then it ended for her when some of her flowers were put on her own grave.
She was a nymphomaniac who had found the perfect place for her. She was very popular and liked, except for a couple of men who were as much as stalking her.
They were accounted for. The killer had to be one who was mentioned in her diary, but hundreds were mentioned.
Where Death Waits
A man’s body is found in the forest in a place no one goes, usually. There is no explanation as to the cause of death.
Those things happen in the Valle de Muerte Esperando. It’s not an easy place.
Then another body close to the same area. No cause of death.
It is in the comarca, but neither person was Indio.
Chacho says the people are stupid to go into that forest. It is a place where death waits for victims.
Clint thinks there’s more to it than that!
Dead Man Talking
Dave calls Clint from Tobobé, where he has met Armitage Lincoln, a psychic investigator. Army has been taking a lot of information from an old man, Francisco Escobar, who knows hundreds of tales from times past.
Trouble was, the stories he told, like he was part of, were more from a couple of hundred years ago.
A body is found in the yuca plot of the puebla. He is a young man named, of all things, Pancho Escobar!
Francisco did not come last night.
Clint handled this kind of investigation on the comarca. Could he come to try to find out what the hell was going on?
What was going on was amazing, even to Clint, who was hard to get a reaction out of in most cases.
Killer Deal
Clint is in David for supplies. He will spend the night, then return to Quebrada Tula, where he and his family are staying.
He is at Peter’s Bar, where he meets Sam Hires, who says he’s made a killer deal for a fishing boat. He gets all the permits and such to do with it. It will run out of Mariato, which Clint knows.
Sam probably didn’t mean “killer” deal the way it turned out.
Or did he?
