Posted online (June 2nd, 2018) by a reader in the USA - Just read the first story and dang its friggin brilliant. I totally love how the story is written (especially the spirit photography). Though it's not scary at all but its clearly lot better than twilight and other retarded stories. No wonder why its award-winning book. Great job writing good stuff.

Dear Alan,
I have just finished reading The Chronicles of Mark Johnson from cover to cover (you are an excellent storyteller, and I didn't want to put it down once I had started) from Julia Petrakis, Seattle.

From Crystall Schall- Al Place writes many different genres, Chronicles of Mark Johnson is definitely one of his short story compilations to date. This is definitely a do not miss read.

From Yezall Strongheart, author of Restore- Bring 'em' back alive.
These stories have been recently polished and the book was given a new face. It finally captures the imagination of Al Place perfectly. Well executed and written, these spine-tingling stories will keep you awake at night. In his noir style, Al Place brings these stories to life and although they are short, they are memorable!
The richly imagined character Mark Johnson jumps from the page, as does the other fully fleshed out characters, in such a way that you feel you are there. Nicely done "creep factor" keeps you turning the pages. All around good collection.
With this author's talent at telling a story, I can only hope for a novel at some point. If anything that would be my complaint, I wanted more.

From Lisa Lane, author of Finding Poe
Although the stories are highly dialog-driven, which is typically a turn-off for me, they contain patches of lovely prose and the characters are interesting and likable. The short stories come together to create a cohesive plot, which I liked. Given the author's stylistic approach and how the stories read, I would love to see him try his hand at play writing and/or screenwriting, for which I feel he would be well-suited.

From Fran Lewis in New York
This is a well-written story filled with just the right amount of suspense, drama and intrigue to keep the reader's interest and ready for the next story. Let's find out what Mark is up to next as I begin story two: The Porthern Case by author Alan Place.
Just as this ends and what is next for Mark and his team you won't know until the author continues the amazing Chronicles of Mark Johnson. Only author PA Canella knows what's next; and of course THE SPIRITS!
