After returning to free the trapped spirit of a lost friend, an old soldier on holiay in France, tells his story to a group of young men.

My grandfather John Oliver fought with the East Yorkshire Regiment in World War 1; during the campaigns which included Ypres he was stabbed by a bayonet, the only thing which saved him was his helmet. To his dying day he had a hole in his head were the bayonet stopped. I have no pictures of my grandfather as my mother and father moved away from our home in Yorkshire when I was 8 and we lost touch with the family. For a long time, I have tried to trace my grandfather's Regimental history, but never had any luck http://www.east-yorkshire-regiment.co.uk/ as we are from Middlesbrough it is most likely he joined up in Hull http://www.1914-1918.net/eastyorks.htm

My children consider me to be a hero too, mainly because I was awarded the GSM (General Service Medal) for the Northern Ireland campaign; but I don't consider myself a hero as I was never in real danger nor did I do anything heroic like my grandfather; I was in the war zone three miles behind the lines http://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=Northern+Ireland#.UYJG-aKG0W4
