A Year in the Life of a Newly Retired Woman

(who gets little done, but has an opinion on everything)

After forty-five years doing diagnostic services, Elizabeth is faced with either retiring or accepting a pay cut. She opts for retirement. She has a delightfully sardonic take on life, a fine sense of humour and enjoys poking fun at her fellow man, particularly if they are in any way fake, too trendy or just plain annoying. She struggles with getting things done on her 'to do list' and being a pensioner in general. Elizabeth describes how she had to dump her ex-partner who is no longer "fit for purpose". Her narrative covers all sorts of everyday topics including the perils of shopping, global warming, bottled water and the thought processes of the young and foolish. Eventually, she finds fulfilment in volunteer work.
