This book has been written to help you to meditate on the Word of God and grow spiritually. It will motivate you to discover your individuality and accept your divine responsibility. It will help you learn how to handle problems instead of allowing them to make you worried and fear-filled. Meditating on the word of God should be the priority in life of every Christian. It is not something we should do occasionally or half-heartedly. We should be able to say like the apostle Paul that my determined purpose is “that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]” (Phil 3:10 AMP). Using this book to meditate on the Word of God will seriously affect you life positively. Your past does not have to be your future. No matter how many times you have failed, God graciously offers His forgiveness.
One on one time with God is the most essential aspects of your Christian life. Some call it quiet time, others daily devotions, or mediation. It really doesn’t matter what you call it, time spent directly communing with God through prayer and Bible reading is what it is all about. It is a time to seek Him, confess your sin and seek His forgiveness. It is also a time to learn from His Word and grow in your understanding of who God is and what He wants to do in your life. It is an opportunity to daily renew your commitment to Him and to seek His guidance. These moments will enlighten, encourage, equip and empower you like nothing else can, but the goal is not to know more about God, it is to actually know God Himself.
Many Christians take some time reading the bible every day. While it is very useful, just reading the bible will not lead you to much fuller Christian walk with Christ. You need to spend time in His Words, study and learn from it every day. Without daily regular quiet time, our spiritual life can be seriously malnourished just as our body can be mal-nutrition without proper food and water! I often wonder when people talk about forgetting to do their quiet time due to busy schedule; I have never found anybody who forgot to eat for a day due to work! The key to a joyful and meaningful spiritual life is having that close relationship with God. First you must know Him as your Saviour. Then daily seek to draw close to Him. As nutritious food helps the body, so a daily quiet time with the Saviour feeds and nourishes the soul. It is impossible to grow significantly without it.
