Charles Montgomery Skinner (Aug 4, 1844 - Jun 30, 1928) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner’s writings were wide ranging.  His career in literature and journalism included editorship of the Brooklyn Eagle.
The Devil And Tom Walker is a short story by Charles M. Skinner included in "Myths and Legends of Our Own Land; Volume 04: Tales of Puritan Land”.  The story follows a strange, dark man. He goes by different names in different places. In some countries he is the black miner, in some the wild huntsman, here he is the black woodman, the patron of slave dealers and master of Salem witches. But some suspect, that this man is the Devil in the flesh.
