Making time for the gym can be the one obstacle that trips us up before we even get started. In most cases, we have to drive 20-30 minutes to get there, take five minutes to change our clothes, work out for 60 minutes (if we’re lucky), and much of this time may be spent simply waiting for equipment that folks are already using—or appear to be using. And finally, that 20-30 minute drive home. Oh, and did I forget about picking up the kids from daycare or soccer practice somewhere during all of this? That’s 120 minutes!
A home gym is always going to be right there for us and open 24 hours a day–even on holidays. We’ll never have to wait to use a piece of equipment (unless we are lucky enough to be working out with our spouse or kids), it will always be clean (unless you are one of the sweaty and messy bammas that never wipes down the equipment when you’re done) and we don’t have to pay a monthly membership fee to use it. Amen!!! But best of all, we no longer have to deal with those folks who seem to only come to the gym to socialize and talk our ears off when we are just trying to get our workout on. Ummm…I’m assuming you’re not one of those annoying people.
The solution to this dilemma is simply finding/making space to work out in our homes. On Day 7 we’ll examine the benefits of a home gym.
