A world in the aftermath of catastrophe is a place rife with opportunities. Where many take the route of crime, a few take the noble cause of arms, fighting for their homes, their nations, their dreams. Steven Hail and his brother Emmet both enlist at the age of sixteen. Naturally, the strain of fighting and killing other human beings gets to them, but over time, they get into a killing rhythm. But, as Steve finds out, this is but an expected result of one of the military's less than honourable endeavours. To make things worse, Steve finds himself at the centre of intertwining agendas, often conflicting, poisoning ones.
