Steve thinks the first date is going well, but then Duke makes a confession: he's still being visited by a flying crocodile, eager to steal him away to a land far, far away.

At first, Steve figures this isn't a big deal, but as the relationship gets serious he can’t shake the feeling that one day Duke will take the crocodile up on its offer. When the fear his boyfriend may leave meets with the constant temptation of being a hero, Steve must figure out what he really wants and what he's willing to sacrifice in order to get it.

What they have may be love, but can any relationship withstand the temptation of a flying reptile from a magic kingdom?

Winged, With Sharp Teeth is the first short story in the Short Fiction Lab series from Brain Jar Press—home to stand-alone short story experiments in fantasy, science fiction, horror, and fabulist literature. This experiment has been filed under: magic realism; flying crocodiles; relationship stories.
