It's the winter break during her first year of college, and Sarah Davies is excited to leave for a ski trip in North Dakota with her cousin Meagan their friends Brad and Ali. The long bus ride puts Sarah to sleep and she's overtaken by a horrifying nightmare where she's buried alive. Although she tries to ignore it afterwards, she fears that it's a premonition of things to come.
The teens set out for a morning of cross-country skiing with sunny skies and a clear forecast, and although she's still haunted by her dream, Sarah gives in to Meagan's suggestion that everything will be okay. After a day of outdoor fun, they retire to the local resort to wait for Brad's uncle to pick them up. The bright afternoon skies disappear and the weather suddenly changes as a violent storm sets in. They become restless and then receive a distress call from Uncle Hugh and assume he's got car problems at the nearby friend's house where he had spent the day.
The teens soon discover that Brad's uncle is in far more danger than they could imagine, and their day of fun turns into a dangerous quest where they all must fight for their survival.
