Tamsin is fourteen when her dissident parents disappear from their hidden home in the outlands of Cornwall. Although their home has been destroyed she believes her parents are still alive and she sets off on a quest to find them. She must put all the survival skills she has learnt into practice as she, her horse and her dog try and find them. It is difficult to trust any of the people she meets on her way or even to know their true identity.

She is ambushed but escapes. She is given directions, but is suspicious of their provenance. In the guise of a boy she joins an itinerant horse-riding troupe that may hold friends or foes.

She meets a fellow traveller, Solo, astonishingly on an identical quest. They become firm friends and join forces. Together they embark on the most dangerous part of the journey, to find and free their parents.

The trail leads them to a prison city, but before they can begin the rescue mission they are betrayed and captured and become prisoners themselves. They escape and locate their parents just before being re -captured.

Tamsin and Solo seem set to share their parents' execution when a double agent reveals themselves. Tamsin and Solo’s pets play a key role in their escape which has life changing repercussions for Tamsin.

WarZone is a young adult’s novel about Tamsin, a feisty 14 year old girl. It is an action packed adventure thriller full of twists and turns, for readers of 9-12 who need an exciting, punchy read to get them reading for pleasure.
