There are many reasons to want to disappear in America, some of them good reasons, most of them bad, however in an increasingly invasive surveillance society where law enforcement, corporations, and even individuals can and do literally track people's every move, disappearing, hiding from an abusive spouse, fleeing the loving arms of the police, or simply wanting to change one's identity because one is "tired of it all" has become increasingly difficult.

Since July of 2001 this book in various formats was made available to the general public after two years of being passed around by the author among people in American society who lived "on the fringe," as law enforcement classifies it. People who dropped out for whatever reasons and sought to rebuild new lives, often under different identities. Since 2001 altered and redacted versions of this book were printed and sold without the author's permission however here is the full edition, written by and offered by the author in formats suitable for loading on to people's hand-held devices for easy reading and reference.

This book has been part of numerous felony criminal investigations, including a number of rather gruesome homicide investigations after the web site version of the book had been found in the web browser cache of suspects. Over the years the author has been contacted a number of times by law enforcement officers via email, telephone calls, and visits to the local police station to describe the history and evolution of this book. At the same time this book has appeared in the browser caches of people who have successfully disappeared, often from abusive domestic relationships, motivating law enforcement to contact the author to determine if the missing individuals had contacted him.

The book makes no moral judgements upon the reasons why people need to or desire to disappear, all that the author desires is that when people vanish from society and seek to rebuild their lives under new identities that they do not take their children with them. The author has lived in fringe society for many years and saw directly the consequences of parents bringing their children with them, and often the life that they fled is less destructive than a life in hiding so the author condemns only those who involve innocent others.

If you are seeking to disappear in America, I wish you good luck. It is not easy, most people fail, however with such helpful hints, suggestions, and opinions, you might be one of the small percentage of people who can successfully drop out, rebuild, and re-enter society as a new, different, and hopefully better person.
