This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Life in the Spirit are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore seven topics, from different verses in the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. They are: Offering by fire to God; Oil for the light, fragrant incense, grain offering and the anointing oil; The voice; Moses’ prayer is answered; Opened eyes and ears; Praise is God’s food; and The presence of God.
Excerpts:
Offering by fire to God
“So also is the new tongues, (that is the private prayer level), which is evidence that we have received the Holy Spirit, subsequent to the experience of salvation; there is also the other level, which is to bless others in the church (everyone can have it [1Corinthians 12:31]).”
Oil for the light, fragrant incense, grain offering and the anointing oil
“Jesus said that the Spirit of the Lord is upon Him, anointing Him for impact (Luke 4:18). He would not have spiritual impact without the Holy Spirit, and when he was leaving the earth he told his disciples that he would not leave them as orphans, he would send the Holy Spirit to them. And in their experience, the Holy Spirit was real as Jesus Christ (Acts 15:28).”
The voice
“There is the voice of the Holy Spirit, which we should learn to recognise. We should not confuse it with the voice of the flesh which manifests in lusts of the flesh, pride of life and lust of the eyes (1John 2:15-17). The Holy Spirit communicates the will of God.”
Moses’ prayer is answered
“We are priests with access to the very presence of God, with “relational mandate” on the earth relating with God via prayer and through the manifestation/ministration of the word, the scriptures, help others to experience and relate with God; we are kings with “dominion mandate” on the earth, via obedience to God both privately and publicly. All these are possible because of the presence of God, the Holy Spirit in our lives. We therefore individually have a personalised experience of the Holy Spirit that people under the Old Testament cannot even dream of. That is partly what Paul meant when he wrote that eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, neither has it entered into the heart of men of the blessings of God to us in Christ Jesus (1Corinthians 2:9-16).”
Opened eyes and ears
“We need to pay attention to the word of God. In the book of proverbs, wisdom a manifestation of the word of God said those who do not pay attention to him will be lost (Proverbs 8). When we move to the sound of the word of God, we move aright.”
Praise is God’s food
“When evil spirit came to torment Saul he was advised to get an anointed musician, so that when music goes up to God, relief comes down to Saul (1Samuel 16:13-23).”
The presence of God
“We need to be engaged in the activities that activates the presence of God experientially through prayer. Paul said that we should pray with all prayers in the spirit (Ephesians 6:18). Isaiah said that he who waits upon the Lord in his presence (takes their time there) will renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:28-31).”
