This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the book of Deuteronomy. They are: Like Moses, like Jesus; What it means to be accursed; 6 days of creation and what the true creator said; Justice redirected; and How we moved from curse to blessing.
Excerpts:
Like Moses, like Jesus
“Jesus is the Son of God, in a way that Moses could not be. This is the way the writer of the book of Hebrews said it: ‘Moses was faithful in the all of Gods house, as a servant, but Jesus is faithful as a son over his own house (Hebrews 3:5-6).’”
What it means to be accursed
“When he said my God why have you forsaken, me, it opened the way for anyone who is willing to come into the divine embrace, washed away from the sin of the past, made new creature (2Corinthians 5:17), with a new start, a new name, a new direction, a new commission. Paul said that we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which are to walk in (Ephesians 2:10).”
6 days of creation and what the true creator said
“That is far-fetched because we are told that we have the mind of Christ (1Corinthians 2:16). We were also told that we have an anointing form the holy one and we know all things (1John 2:27). But we should realise that the output of the word, the height of your communication is derived from the depth of your meditation. A man flourishes from the depth of his meditation on the word (Psalm 1).”
Justice redirected
“John said if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just (necessary execution of justice) to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9). The positive justice that comes to us is because we believe in Jesus, because the negative justice was poured on Jesus on the cross. Because we believe we deserve what comes to us, the goodness of God; and that is on the account of Jesus.”
How we moved from curse to blessing
“God told Samuel: while you are concerned about appearance, I look at the heart (1Samuel 16:1-7). And the blessing in Jesus is strongly focused on internal issues, it is Christ coming to dwell in our hearts through faith, it is his new life flowing through us, it is us in a spiritual sense being in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6), it is us being more than conquerors (Romans 8:37), it is us having the greater one in us, and we able to say that greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world (1John 4:4). It is experiencing the grace of Jesus whereby we walk above sin.”
