My second journey to the Ukraine encompassed a much larger portion of this nation than the first trip, back in June 2013, during which I got to become very fond of the country. It wasn’t so much the landscape, the architecture or its history that generated this sentiment, although this country has much to offer in all three categories. In particular, I got along very much with everyone I came into contact with and this more than anything else is what prompted me to come back.
The first journey encompassed only the Crimea. This time I covered several major cities, cutting straight down the middle of the nation from north to south. I started my endeavor in Ukraine’s capitol city, Kiev, where I landed in Boryspil International Airport. I stayed there for over a week before I drove south to my next destination, Odessa. After a few days in this Black Sea city I continued onward, skipping through Mykolaiv to stop for a few days in Kherson. The final leg of my journey took me back down to the Crimea, specifically its capitol city, Simferopol, and its world famous port city of Sevastopol.
On my nearly three week jaunt I met new people, learned what it means to be on a road trip in this nation, saw some of its major cities and ports and had to cope with a couple out of the ordinary incidents. For me it had been another unique tour and especially my experiences with the police strongly characterized this second trip to the Ukraine.
