Damon Nazareth, a man drawn to killing his own kind for personal gain, has little time to consider death, divine retribution or purgatory. They are a given: occupational hazards, meaningless. Offers of redemption, therefore, in common with miracles, are neither likely nor expected.
Fair enough. So, when a demon in the guise of a 1960’s New York gangster crops up touting such an offer there’d be no point in listening, would there? Just walk away... A sound plan, except for one irritating problem: shaking off the attentions of a supernatural creature can prove more than a little difficult.
By degrees an outlandish tale of God sparring with the Devil, ancient pacts and the prospect of an era in decline become harder to discount or ignore. Forced to collaborate with the unearthly, Damon Nazareth soon finds himself pitted against the unshackled evil of Theslazren. His promised redemption and that of his demonic partner become irrelevant as circumstances escalate towards chaos, threatening total collapse of the fine balance that has stood since the dawn of man. The Old Order seems incapable of controlling her. What chance, then, for an assassin and a failed demon to hold sway? Can this woman’s fascination with Damon offer hope?
