Sarah used to take a short cut home after school through a railroad tunnel. Unfortunately, on October 31, 1902, Sarah never made it home. Sarah's mangled body was discovered on the railroad tracks the next morning in the tunnel where she walked home from school every day. Sarah never had a chance to get out of the tunnel alive. The tunnel was too long and the train was too fast. The conductor of the train stated that he saw the little girl running on the railroad tracks. The conductor said he blew the trains whistle but there was no way the train could avoid the little girl.
