Detective Carl Masterson, AKA Tough Masterson is a cop. A good cop and he didn’t want or need a partner. Not until he met Detective Cissi Holt. She gave “partner” a whole new meaning.

On day one of the partnership, Cissi and Tough find themselves trying to solve a murder case. It would have been a difficult case even if they were not busy distracting each other. They run into some interesting characters as they pursue the perpetrator. Ike Washington, a black man and bar owner with ties to the murder victim. A mysterious man know only as Tom, a sleazy photographer named Smith, a black narcotic detective called RJ, A large beautiful street cop named Liz, The gay husband of the victim and another mysterious man who they discover was a boyfriend of the victim, and a host of other players in the case.
