Fourteen-year-old Sarah McDaniel and her younger twelve-year-old sister Mikella moved to the small fictional town of Clarksdale, Indiana only a couple of months after the death of their father. While the family is still coping with the unexpected accidental death of Jack McDaniel, Sarah has recently started high school and has been invited to her first late night high school party.

What Sarah does not know is that her mother is on the verge of a complete mental breakdown and by going to a party that her mother has forbidden her to attend her mom's mental scale will be tipped to a dangerous point.

This story is the short story of unintended abuse, the love of friends and strangers, and the reconciliation that is possible for a broken family to achieve.

Trigger Warning: This story involves the excessive spanking of a teenage girl with a hairbrush by her mother and the emotional trauma that she and her sister go through.
