After a windfall, Dan and Chloe have moved from their one up one down terrace to a big house in a select part of London. Learning that his neighbours have a certain “understanding” when it comes to their relationship, Dan makes a rather drunken advance on Max’s attractive girlfriend, Imogen. But, after a rather blunt refusal, (Piss off!), in the ensuing unfortunate dilemma he’s created for himself, when it comes to trying to deal with the situation he finds himself totally out of his depth.

Whilst he can't be sure, Dan believes Imogen has told Max her boyfriend of the little faux pas he’s had with her and in his paranoia, he's concerned that Max is now chasing the affections of his own wife, Chloe, which he is. Unlike Dan, who’s highest level of academic achievement were two ‘A levels’ in the sixth form of a comprehensive school, Chloe is a well educated university graduate with her own thriving business and now desperate to have children, which is something Dan doesn't want, but Max does.

Unable to see any alternative means of dealing with this fait accompli, Dan focuses his attention on a yellow kitchen stool which he’s recently bought. In his twisted mind, this is not just any kitchen stool. This is a special one, for it’s something that Max is usually sat upon, usually a little too comfortably in Dan’s kitchen, whilst he indulges himself in intercourse, albeit it, of course, of a verbal kind, with Dan’s pretty wife, Chloe.

As he attempts to ascertain whether or not Max’s intentions are innocent, or after his own rather inappropriate advances on Imogen, come with a deeper, more threatening meaning behind them, as he attempts to engage himself in a conversation with them which is way over his head, Dan continues his struggle, while he too, is sat on one of the yellow kitchen stools, which just happens to be the one Dan and Chloe had been making love on earlier.
