Sierra Renee Jackson lives in South Beach, Florida, the land of sunshine, beautiful beaches and plenty of sunshine. She has already accomplished what many will never do, she has written several moderately successful fictional novels by the age of twenty-five! Sierra understands that her notoriety and success may be fleeting; if she fails to write something of note, she may have to turn to a different vocation to support her South Beach lifestyle. Sierra's concerns about finding a topic of interest that she might develop into a story are possibly answered when an old high school friend calls and tells her of a possible witch sighting out in a very rural area of the panhandle of Florida, near Perry, Florida. And, her friend's young teen daughter happens to be living out there in the country, close by the witch's house, with her auntie and her father, and her brand new baby, Brenna. It just so happens that they live just up the road from the witch and Sierra considers that this tip could be a possible topic that she could develop into her next novel!

As the story unfolds, Sierra travels to Perry and finds much, much more than she anticipated. In a very strange chance encounter on her way to the young teen's auntie's house, Sierra happens to spot a convenience store and she stops to buy some snacks. Unbeknownst to Sierra, her high school friend's daughter, Emily, works at the convenience store. That sets the tone as Sierra is confronted by an ever-increasing series of strange supernatural occurrences and keeps Sierra in a constant state of turmoil and confusion. There seems to be an immediate and very strong connection between Sierra and Emily, and events for Sierra seem to cascade out of her control from there on between the young teen mom, Emily and Miss Emma Peel, the resident witch! In an attempt to mitigate the situation, Sierra enlists the assistance of her younger sister, Olivia, who travels to Perry. Instead of attempting to help with the situation, Sierra feels even more frustration and angst as Olivia initially does attempt to help, but because of the influence she feels of the dark spirit forces, Olivia quickly abandons her efforts to assist Sierra and she returns to South Beach.

The Trap is a story of many twists and turns, about evildoers, witchcraft, and the dark spirit forces. For her future, Sierra Jackson's quest to find another storyline actually becomes, in essence, her life; and her life is turned upside down as she finds she is desperately caught up in her own personal trap with the witch who lives near Perry, and increasingly, with Emily, who accepts the dark spirit forces and the evil of the world. Sierra feels her life is unraveling and she cannot seem to escape her trap and find some semblance of equilibrium, to return to some sense of normalcy instead of all the constant disruptions brought on by her search for a new storyline.

There are no easy answers for Sierra as she does whatever she can to set things right for both herself and Emily. But, Emily continues to resist any attempts to renounce her new life of wielding immense powers in the dark spirit world. Emily's fateful decision forces Sierra to make a choice, either to join up with Emily and her new life of evil and sinister ways, or to remain steadfast, shunning Emily and the dark spirit forces that have possessed Emily's soul. Sierra must make a fateful decision; is she willing to renounce Emily and further, to make an effort to destroy the wicked, evil dark spirit forces that have taken possession of her which will undoubtedly also end Emily's existence. It all becomes a struggle between good and evil, the outcome teetering by the thinnest of threads and one wrong move by Sierra could spell the end her own existence as well!
