April 15, 2012 Sunday marks the 100th anniversary of the fateful day the Titanic hit an iceberg in the frigid north Atlantic on its maiden voyage.

Why is it that the Titanic still fascinate the world a century later?

The Titanic was never meant to be an ordinary vessel but it was built to become the queen of the trans Atlantic liners sailing on a regular schedule between New York and the south of England. Had it survived, it might have become a fast troop carrier in World War I and then a passenger liner after 1918.

History changed when Titanic sank. Even now, there is something surprisingly contemporary about the Titanic disaster. It is as if the Titanic were just now striking that iceberg and sinking. It has become for many of us to imagine ourselves on board.

Many stories unfolded and still unfold from this Titanic event. There are heroes and villains. There¡¦s friction between the upper and lower class passengers. There are couples who choose to die together rather than be separated from one another. There is love, unending love. There is sorrow. The loved ones are lost and gone forever.

The Titanic Moment always remains in our hearts.

What if . . .

If only . . .

Our imaginations of that true event in history continue to grow.
