The Terrible Experience of Plodkins

Robert Barr was born in Scotland but when he was four his family moved to Canada. Barr's works are often based on his own experience and reveal his personality: straightforward and even cruel at first sight but very kind when you take a serious look. Plodkins was a usual crosser on the Atlantic steamers. He was a businessperson who had a deal with commercial houses on both sides of the ocean; he sold in America for an English house and bought in England for an American establishment. He was the great seller, he was very skilled in trading. But in one morning I met him in the bathroom of the steamship. Firstly I thought that he was dead.
