About the Author
Joan Harmon is a retired registered nurse, certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing. She also received National Certification as a Bereavement Facilitator from the American Academy of Bereavement in Tucson, Arizona. For over 20 years, she has been holding grief support groups at her church in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
A mother of five children, with two now in heaven, Harmon began her work with grief support groups after the loss of her daughter. She recalls that, at the time, there were not any local support groups in her community to help her. With God’s help, she recovered, and after improving herself, she began her first grief support group. She now finds personal joy in helping others recover from their grief.
