H. P.. Lovecraft, Douglas Adams, and Mickey Spillane walk into a bar in Arkham. They have a few drinks (Adams pays), then walk back out of the bar and proceed down the street to Lovecraft's steeply gabled house, where they proceed to collaborate on a novel. This is that novel. Follow our erstwhile flatfoots as they track down the minions of a particularly odious occult deity in one hilarious encounter after another. From their offices in a white-collar, high-rise office building in Houston, to a Waffle House in Wooster, Ohio, to a dungeon in rural Kentucky, to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, our heroes save the world on $200 a day, plus expenses. The book follows two detectives through a series of four interconnected cases, starting with what seems like a standard-issue haunted house in upstate New York that quickly turns into an encounter with the followers of Sugob, one of the cheapest, and hence one of the most dangerous, occult deities with whom one will ever have occasion to deal. After being framed for murder in the second case, and almost drowned in the Gulf Of Mexico by contract killers in the third, our protagonists take matters into their own hands in the fourth and final case, resulting in a dramatic showdown on the roof deck of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, involving Little Richard paperweights, a fake ficus tree, and an Elvis statuette.
