I once read the preface to a book of short stories, where the author told of making a fair amount on each of his stories individually, but not enough to justify the time he spent on each story, and then how he made up for it on the stories as an anthology. I have made precious little on the stories that follow (a bit of prize money at best) hopefully this book will make up for that.
As for the title, one of my daughter made me a cross stitch picture of a story teller (with the insinuation that I was a story teller), and then I thought of all of the shows that have two part episodes and how some of my stories are my view of what happens next (whether it be one of my novels or stories, or someone else’s work) or is the prequel to something else I have written or hope to write.
The stories in this collection include my foray’s into the western (a different genre than I usually write) flash fiction (stuff under 1000 words) fan fiction (a story from another author’s universe) and filling in some of the details about characters I write about in my novels and novellas. These stories also represent exploring some of the characters that I may or may not write future novels about.
This is a testing ground, where I hope to learn what readers like and want to see more of.
