Robert Sheckley (1928-2005) was an American science fiction writer known for his unpredictable, absurdist, and comical novels and short stories. First published in the sci-fi pulps of the 1950s, Sheckley was a prolific writer, producing more than two dozen novels and hundreds of short stories. Nominated for Hugo and Nebula awards, Sheckley was named Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2001 and passed away in 2005.
