Rex Beach (1877-1949) was an American author, playwright, and Olympic water polo player. After growing in Florida and attending law school, Beach joined the Klondike gold rush in 1900. In addition to a fairly successful literary career, Beach was a member of the 1904 U.S. Olympic water polo team, which won the silver medal.
