Edwin Sidney Hartland (1848–1927) was a british author specialized on folklore. He is known for tales anthologies and collection, works on mythology, ethnology and anthropology. He belived in scientific picture of beliefs and traditions, that could be composed through through the gathering end exploring folklore. Hartland was president of the Folklore Society from 1899 to 1901, and contributed to its Folk-Lore journal.
